Trimble Transcriptions operates from the place commonly known as Toronto but known for much longer as Tkaronto in Mohawk, Toaando in Anishinaabe, and Tonrontonhk in Wynadot – where there are trees standing in the water. It is, was and always will be an important meeting place in the hereditary homelands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people from across Turtle Island. Toronto is in the Dish With One Spoon Territory. The Dish With One Spoon is a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land. This land became home to settlers like me through the ongoing violence of colonialism and white supremacy, and through the negotiations of treaties and covenants including Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa Nations.
